The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) was established in 1991, following the collapse of communism in Europe, in order to consolidate market economies and democracies in 38 countries in the Southeastern Mediterranean, Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Being an important partner in supporting economic development and reforms in Romania over the years, the EBRD has provided significant loans and investments in various sectors of the Romanian economy, such as energy, infrastructure, the financial sector, industries, commerce, and tourism.
